Easy Mail Order

  • We Send You Our Special Box
  • You Add Knives
  • Shipping Is Prepaid
  • Tracking by Fedex

It’s easy and safe to ship your knives to us.  We send you our special Knife Pak box, with everything you need to securely send your knives in for sharpening.  All you have to do is drop off the box at the nearest Fedex/Kinkos after you’ve sealed it.  We even provide the tape!

There are four easy steps.  After your order has been placed, we send you our Knife Pak shipper.  In it you will find:

  • a postage prepaid crushproof box
  • Edge-Guards™ for your knives
  • a 6’ roll of bubble wrap
  • 2 vinyl adhesive stickers to seal the box

Step One: Apply Edge-Guards™
Slide the edge of the knife into the slotted opening in the top of the Edge-Guard™ and make a motion like you are slicing cake as shown in the next three pictures.

Knife slides into notched slot on either side above.  Do not push knife into guard.  Rotate it in with a slicing motion.

Step Two: Place Knives in Box
Place your knives into the white shipping box with the tip of the blades pointed in the direction shown on the arrow inside.  That end of the box is reinforced to prevent any knives from piercing the box during shipping.

Step Three: Drop in Bubble Pack
Drop in the roll of bubble pack provided.  It should sit on top of the knives blades or the handles, whichever allows the roll to protrude about ½”-3/4” out of the top.  If there is too much bubble wrap, you can tear some off because it is perforated every foot.  If you want to wrap each knife, there is plenty of bubble pack to do so, but it isn’t necessary.

Step 4: Seal the Box
Seal the box with the imprinted Tyvek tape we provide and take it to either the nearest FedEx Kinkos or put it in your mailbox, depending on which shipping method you've chosen on the Order page.

Once we receive your knives, here is what we do:

  • Create a hollow-ground edge on both sides of your knife using a water-immersed, 10” diameter 2” wide rotating Japanese made stone.
  • Set the proper angle according to the manufacturer.   In general, most Asian knives are set to a more acute angle than European ones.  Single-sided knives (all serrated and some Asian designs such as Yanagiba) have an angle only on one side. .
  • Hone each knife using our own process.
  • Treat porous wood handles with food grade mineral oil to prevent splitting.
  • Encase each knife in an edge guard, which will allow you to place the knife in a drawer if you do not store it in a wooden block.
